Luisa Dorr, Brazilian, who photographed the cover about "women who are changing the world" for Time. She was born in Lajeado, a small neighborhood located in Rio Grande do Sul. After finishing school Luisa began to study graphic design in college, a course which she studied for three or four years. "I wasn't very happy and my aunt invited me to work with her, I believe it was in 2010." Her aunt had a photographic studio in which she performed photographing weddings and baptisms. At that time I had a certain hierarchy and she had to wait for her turn to be able to photograph, she could not shoot in the studio, despite having a camera from my childhood. Dorr to moved to New York to realize her dream, but it was not easy. She studied photography at Ulbra (university) at night and during the day she worked as an assistant in an advertising photography studio. She would do all the actions of an assistant, set up the light and set up the photo set, clean the studio and do everything an assistant does. She worked until she graduated.

Luisa found some difficulties in her journey it was not every time easier, mainly because your age, but she never gave up. She gave an interview to the website Time.com, and when asked if she was motivated by some woman she has pictured she said: "All of them went through a lot of struggle just to slowly consolidate a place in society. This positive fighting energy never giving up is what has inspired me the most." Luisa took a lot of pictures of important women such as, Oprah Winfrey , Hilary Clinton and Serena Williams.

Oprah Winfrey  This is one of Luisa jobs, made for the Time.

Like Luisa a lot of women are tying to get their space in the society. After some researches I could found one thing which women are always fighting for equality but they never get. I am talking about sports. In the XXI century women are looking for their equality. I took one example from soccer. Soccer is the most popular sport in the world. Soccer makes billions of dollars, with publicity, sponsorship, and other things. Whatever, the difference between the most well payed soccer player (man) to woman soccer player is crazy. Lionel Messi, the best player in the world choose by FIFA, (International Federation of Association Football) earns 112 millions pounds per year. On the other side Ada Hergerberg makes 343,000 pounds per year. It is 326 times less than Messi. There is a huge spot between men and women in the world of sports. Data based on fourfourtwo.com. Messi beats Serena Williams, who is the most well payed woman athlete in the world ($29,2 million per year).

I believe this not only happen in sports but in most of career that women have men as "opponent". As Luisa, or all the women who are fighting everyday to find their equality on the society, they should be treated as the same importance as men do. I am not saying to put them to train together or to work together I am just saying that they fight a lot for opportunities and they deserve more than now. In the video Women Photojournalist we could see how hard is to women be accepted in some areas of work. Even in some countries they suffer discrimination because they cannot work with this or that. It is time to make this separation a little bit more even and help the women to have courage to express their jobs without be fear of any discrimination.

What feelings this image create? This image creates a feeling of security. She has the camera in her hands like she knows what she is doing. Very focused on her job.

Rule of thirds:The main subject is located in the middle of the picture. The background is ignored. The attention is at the center of the picture which Sasamoto is holding her camera.

Quality of light: Picture taken in black and white which it is normal for that time. I can see the picture was taken during the day and she looked very lightly with no shadows around her.

This is Tsuneuko Sasamoto, considered the first female photojournalist in the world. She photographed the Japan after and before the WWII. She probably do not know but she motivated a lot of women in the world to do what she used to do.

Year created: 2019

What feeling does the image create: It creates a feeling of worry. She looks worried about what is happening in the game. She is not even noticing that the picture is being taken. She looks focused in a problem.

Rule of thirds: The main subject is in focus. The main subject looks not totally centralized but it still a rule of thirds. If we divide the picture in three parts it gets all the three parts.

Shallow depth of field: The background is blurred and the main subject gets all the focus. Very nice picture getting all the attention for the subject. Nothing else is calling attention on the picture.

I picked this photo because this is Marta da Silva. The best woman soccer player in the world. Elected by FIFA for 6 times, the same number as Messi. She has more goals than anyone in World cups, more than the men as well. She was always fighting for her equality in the world. If you notice she was wearing make up in the game to call people attention saying that women can play soccer.

Background compliments: This image divides people's attention because the background. The background is not clearly as the subject in front, is a little blurred to be honest, but is shows that they are in a competition for something.

What feeling does the image create: It creates the feeling of  tension and focus. They look ready for this competition. Also for this angle shows the man in front of the women. I do not know if the person who took this picture tried to say something with this image, but it looks the man has advantage from the woman.

Quality of light: It looks the light is coming from the west part of the picture. As I said it looks a good photo the only thing is the background is a little blurred, and the man in front is totally visible. The photographer definitely tried to show something with this picture about the not equality between men and women.

I choose this photo because for me it shows how is the reality. Men are in front of women and if nobody gives them a chance it will never change. Women should at least have the same rights as men it would make them lose the fear of trying more.

Module 6

Nowadays everything is so much easier to do than 10,20,30 years ago. If something happens anywhere in the world people will know in at least 10 minutes. Things got faster, and the internet is the main guilty on this. The internet make the whole world more connected. Nobody waits to see the news, people want to know about something at the same time they type on their phones or laptops. Television, radio and newspaper are not required as much like 10 years ago. The internet followed by social medias got their spot.

People do not watch tv anymore because they have platforms as YouTube, Netflix and others. Spotify, Apple Music and YouTube probably made the radio stations an unusual thing, as I said before, nobody likes to wait so they will not wait to listen their favorites musics. The industries of newspaper do not publish not even half of the perceptual they used to like 10 years ago. People can look for online newspaper, is the same thing but you do not need to get out of your comfort zone to see what is happening around the world. I believe online newspaper was the cause which the newspaper still around us. Social medias as Instagram, Facebook, Snapchat and Twitter are the most accessed social medias in the entire world. The industries of newspaper have pages on social medias making their users lives easier to access their pages. Snapchat is one social media which has a page with some of television, newspaper, music and other types of industries. They show one little video, you just need to click on it and it send you directly to the webpage.

The use of online journal increased a lot because the internet and the technology that we have nowadays. Also, we have access to everything so easy that we do not need to go to a newsstand in the morning and buy newspaper to know what is happening around the world, we have everything on our cellphones, television, laptop, and other electronic devices. The use of internet increased the competition between the newspaper brands to see who post something first and see who gets the news first.

According to: www.newworldencyclopedia.org; "the credibility and recognition of a strong brand of well-established newspapers, and the close relationships they have with advertisers, are also seen by many in the newspaper industry as factors that strengthen their chances of survival.  Moving away from the printing process can also help lower costs."

I believe the online newspaper made the photographers and journalists think faster, act faster, I mean people want to see what is happening and they have to publish it as faster they can. Nowadays they have the necessary tools to do it. They have cellphones, digital cameras, so they can take pictures from anywhere and publish in less than one minute.

It is impossible compare the media today and the media 50,100 years ago. I did a research about photogravure and the process to get it ready was long. It used to take days to get ready, and today a photo takes seconds to be ready and published.

I believe the journalist and photographers have an easier life, but with more pressure. Back in a day they did not need to be fast as they do today, the charge on them for a better picture, for a faster post is a way bigger than 10, 20 years ago. They do not care how they will do it, they just have to be fast. "Using Instagram as the primary outlet for breaking news coverage was an experiment, Pollack says, but one motivated by necessity."

Principle: Rule of Thirds. The rule of thirds is evident on this picture showing the main character located centrally, making it in evidence.

Principle: Subject's expression. It looks like the photographer got a perfect angle to take this picture because the main object looks like he is looking to the camera, like he knew the camera was point to him, it is fantastic.

Principle: Exposure time. This is a freeze motion picture, which the main character is in movement jumping on his friend and celebrating his goal. The photographer looks very precise with his camera, kind of impressive for that time.

I choose this image because it represents my country, my culture. Brazil is a country where is very beautiful but the government does not know how to control it. When I look this image I remember the good times, when people were able to play soccer on the streets and be safe at the same time, where people loved soccer more than anything. This is not a normal photo it is the King of soccer bringing a World Cup to Brazil. Memorable moment.

Principle: Quality of light: Light is not very good. The photo is kind of dark not helping the main character look good. He looks dark and is not making him in evidence because his wife is calling attention too due the light not focusing on him.

Principle: Depth of field. The image is bringing the focus to both people in front. The background is not on focus, we can barely seem what is behind them. Anyways, the picture is focusing on both people in front but it kind of did not get his whole body.

Principle: What feeling does the image create: Happiness. The image shows both of people smiling and very happy. Even if you do not know them you can tell they won something, and there are people looking at them because he is greeting someone. Also, they are focused to something in front but a little bit down of his eyes. If we check they look down. I predict they were on top of something.

I picked this photo because it shows the change of my country. After 16 years of being involved in corruption. Brazil chose to switch the government. This man is called Jair Bolsonaro, the President of Brazil. A lot of people do not like him, but he is definitely better than the old President. Anyways, it makes me think about change. My country can be good again, and this man has "the power" to do that.

Principle: Obvious main subject. The main subject occupies a big part of the picture. The main object is definitely in evidence, covering the most part of the background.

Principle: Keep it simple. It is a simple picture. Nothing to add at all, it is just a car but it makes me thinks deeper about the car. The main object is straight which is perfect and easy to get a picture of.

Principle: Background compliments. The background is in evidence but does not call attention. The attention still in the main object, which is the car. The background helps the picture to look better in my opinion.

I chose this picture because I always think how people could be so smart to produce cars at that time. The technology they had was poor compared to nowadays and they still doing the car looks perfect. This photo shows a lot of details of the car. If we stop to see this picture we can notify that the car has the basics things that all the cars need today. I also believe this a good picture because it shows the class and the elegance of this car.
